Destiny

Grace stands backstage with her prayer warriors. Her mind travels through the long suffering, refining, and destiny it took to get here. In the distance, she hears the indistinct chatter of people filling the stadium. The rising angle of her lips reveals comfort as Addison Road's "Hope Now" serves as her theme music for the evening. In the passing moments, she shakes to a series of dings. “Praise the Lord!” she answers. “Praise the Lord,” he returns. “All I want to say is God is with you. Go in strength, go in confidence, and go in peace,” he reassures. Blinking away a tear, Grace leans her head forward, appreciating the benefits of having a spiritual advisor like Bishop William.

Walking to take her place, she stands in the emcee’s line of sight.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great pleasure that I introduce a woman who I am proud to call my friend, Grace Miller.” Her chest rises and falls as she eyes the glowing sunset and walks steadily across the stage, grateful for the crowd’s reception. “I hear that someone came to hear my testimony,” she says to the audience. “Is that true?” she asks, taking another breath. A joyful applause lingers as her voice breaks through the multitude, “Let us pray: Our Father in heaven …” Her words blur as history ushers in a new era.
